(Registration Needed)Business Families Supporting the Vulnerable During the Pandemic – What We Are Doing in Hong Kong (10 September 2020)
2020-09-10 @ 5:00 PM - 6:00 PM SMT

As cities emerge from various scales of Covid-19 lockdown, with many of us acclimatising to great revisions in our day-to-day lives, for many, the pre-pandemic desperate conditions could well have sunk to new levels of hopelessness. As we discuss re-imagining our businesses and future, there exists segments of society, segments which are ever growing, who cannot even contemplate beyond the next meal.
In Hong Kong, the struggles of the marginalised began even before Covid-19. You will recall the change in Hong Kong’s socio-political backdrop, which began around the summer of 2019, and the impact on the economy. Amidst this protracted dip, day-to-day essentials gradually, if not already, inched further beyond the reach of Hong Kong’s growing destitute; where even a simple, hot meal is a luxury and a privilege. For those amongst us familiar with Hong Kong, think neighbourhoods like Sham Shui Po – densely populated, poverty-stricken with one of the lowest median monthly domestic household incomes.
In an attempt to alleviate the situation in sight, many groups, both large and small, have stepped up to help. And so in an initiative spearheaded by our friends in Hong Kong, including FBN Asia member Mr Johnson Cheng (2nd Gen, Chi Fan Group), we hope to galvanise as many of you as practicable to partake in this initiative,
In a Zoom webinar this 10 September 2020, 5.00pm SGT, I invite you to join Roger Lam, Author & Missionary; and Elaine Chow and Sherman Chau from the Island Evangelical Community Church, who will share more about the situation in Hong Kong and more important, the call to action — what we can do to help Hong Kong’s most vulnerable communities.
